So Ive got myself a new cell phone. It was about the time as my old phone is 5 years old. Because of my future new job which includes commuting everyday for 3 hours I have decided to treat myself with a smartphone with an internet flatrate. After some research I've decided for an adroit phone and picked HTC desire hd. I have it now for one evening but so far I'm quite liking it.

so finally, i've got to check the stability of the new cpu. i performed a simple test of using my cpu intensive code with openmp extension, for the use on all cores, it's a simple N^2 problem. I was running two instances of this program + some video decoding and it will rather fine :) i was quite positively surprised. here is the screenshot>

so, after the last post things improved only marginally. instead of randomly freezing every two hours, it was every 4-5 hours, resp. absolutely random. after doing bit of consulting with friends, i've decided to switch the SLI option off under linux.

i need to look better into the issue and try to find a solution. i also switched to the non-developer drivers, as right now the priority #1 is to learn c++ and then it will be CUDA.

on the other side of the things, i hacked a bit my table to accommode my better. pics coming soon...

It has been a looong time, since I've posted something here. But here is something new.

So this is the shot of how my table looks like now. The new addition is the very subtle cca. 60cm high tower on the right. Thats my new work horse, I built it completely alone and it shows (thats why you wont see any detail pics) :)

So I have installed Ubuntu 10.04 TLS and Windows 7 (SC2) and after cca 2 weeks one graphics card decided to die. Ive got a replacement and everything was well, except of the random blue flicker. After searching the internet a bit I found that this might be due to the SLI cable, so I cleared and flipped it and it worked :)

However, the new linux kernel update came and my linux system became quite unstable I was running developers driver 260.19.21 for CUDA development goodies... everything was fine in the windows 7 land, although also there sometimes, something happened, but overall everything was quite fine. However, most of my work is being done in the linux so I needed to address this issue. So, I did the obvious and ... it worked :)

I am enjoying now a quite stable production system ! (tap tap tap on the table)

btw. I started to play Starcraft 2 so if you are already playing let me know and we can have a game or two :)

In the recent events, I was forced by the circumstances to think a lot about the
state of society in which I am living. I will not go into the details as there
would be no difference in my opinion and the details are not necessary for the
sake of this post.

I promise I will try not to make it clear...

Problems I am talking about is quite old and not new to the humankind. They are
strongly connected to the basic rights of a human being and to the basic
principles of the existence within the society.

Ok, I am not telling the complete truth. The basic principles of the living within
the society are quite primitive and very crude. I am thinking about the
intelligent living within the intelligent society.

No! This is not about politics either.

I guess this is about the corruption of mind and heart. Power corrupts, that an
old saying and it is very true. However, it should not corrupt those, who are
aware of this truth... so then, why it still does?

I am aware that there are no absolutes (except of zero, which is also not
existing), but is not there a way for objectively determining whats the right
thing to do?

Maybe there is, my own personal compass is the masochistic one. I believe that the
hardest road is the best for you. Of course this is a thing of personal belief,
but shouldn't one try to become more? And if no, then what is one's purpose?

Why do people let other people decide for them, what is the best for them? Why do
religions exists? If we were created by higher authority and we were given
self-consciousness, why is the majority willing to give it away? Is it really that
hard to be responsible for your own decisions...

Isn't society losing? and if isn't it us who are losing? If we are indeed losing,
who is the winner and what will we loose ...

HE was here! Yes, the almighty photographer Igor visited Budapest once again :) His almightiness presented itself from beginning, he got a free hug on Margitsziget. And you wouldn't believe what he did next... Unbelievable... He "touched" a horse :) Then his godly powers made a stork bow...

Enough bullshit :) The "little ZOO" at Margitsziget is a great enhancement of a walk/run there... Too bad the bigger part of Halászbástya was closed for reconstruction, I would have made another panorama and compare it to my first one from Budapest.

I'm sure you've already guessed, that there's only one more thing left out: Picture Mania.

We've spent the weekend after AvB in Bratislava, and we had fun...

See? :) Saturday afternoon we've walked for about 6 hours, my uncle and his wife guided us all over the place :) Too bad the news square at Eurovea center was closed, the bank of Danube is a nice place to walk (LOL: I know, experience from BP). But the real fun was on sunday, we've visited The Mirbach Palace.

There is lot of modern art there (i.e. loads of crap), some 19'th century paintings, which were nice to see... But there was one room, that was definitely worth it. A "piece" by Matej Krén... If you have the chance, go see it, or better to say, go experience it. There's another one, with 3 times more books in circle shaped room, so you really can feel the "infinite knowledge" :) Too bad I forgot where it is, but a skilful googler won't have trouble with that.

Thanks to Ondrej and Gabika, for letting us stay over the weekend, it was great :)

Later than I imagined, but here goes:

I've heard about ASOT 450 almost "accidentally". I've listened to a random ASOT (438) after cca a year after the previous one... and there it was, ASOT in the "Queen of cities Bratislava"... Well, I can say, I was surprised to see which expo hall did the event take place... But o.k., Armin van Buuren is not as well know as Paul van Dyk around here, apparently.

We (me and Angéla) arrived around 23:00, and full of expectations and energy, we've stepped into the queue to wardrobe... One would think that people behind events like this would learn or something, but no... We first saw the stage around midnight... Is it always that bad at events with 5000+ people? Aren't there any other rooms in the building to use as wardrobe? Doesn't matter now... at least we had a GOOD look (and laugh) at some of "costumes"/people there :)

Skip to the end: as much as I want to say damn, Armin was uber-great... I can't: I liked Gareth Emery's (00:00 - 01:00) set slightly more than Armin's... Maybe it was because while Gareth was playing, we were down, in the crowd, but while Armin played (01:00 - 03:00 almost to the minute) we had to be on one of the higher stands. After seeing 2 or 3 bleeding faces, broken noses, I did not dare to stay there. Why is it always like this? People that want to fight go to an event with people that want to "trance"... Crap. I guess the size of the dancefloor did not help in this matter, it was crowded...

Sound quality was perfect, but the power... ehm, a bit too much for place of that size... Comparing to PvD, sound was better (in the sense of being able to listen to it longer time) there, music sucked, ASOT was fun to listen to, but a bit too harsh on ears... Angi's ears were "ringing" even when we came to back to Budapest.

Ad tracklist: I missed some tracks like Don't give a fuck!'s rework by Stoneface & Terminal, Fluidium... The one's that I can't stand on the ground while listening to it :) Big ass trance saw sound. Faithless was cool, Schössow & Burian's "Kofola" played by Daniel Kandi was fun :) Trinity was pretty close to what I mean here.

Overall: Damn, It was great... I missed you, my friends :)

so, today ive configured my ubuntu workstation in work to do some good to humanity - i installed tor. im planning to run it also as a relay, hopefully it will work. Im also running a wiki for our group on that computer, im wondering how this all will work together :)

i was wondering if one could make a HW that would just connect to the ethernet/WIFI and encode all of ur traffic without the need of running come buggy client on ur computer and indeed janus made it and hes selling it online :) right now the webpage says out of stock, but im planning to get one, or rather to build one, hopefully. if this project will come to life, all of the build and plans will be posted online to be available to everyone :)

After loading it into the octave and trying to do some easy statistics i found that mean of the 3rd column is -0.88823 which is plainly wrong, since there are only positive values in that column.
With bit of awk knowhow:


awk '{print $3}' mydata.dat > column.dat

i extracted the 3rd column from the file with awk. Loaded it into the octave and performed the same thing, but this time with the correct answer. Anyone encountered this? I will have a look on this as it can have potentially devastating consequences.

on the other hand... last week i tried new amarok v.2.0.

to be precise im running on ubuntu not kubuntu, but in principle everything should work even if u install stuff from the K side of the ubuntu. as i have found out, it doesnt. amarok would not play almost any format and would constantly crash, when i was trying to import my library - a big let down.

however i just found out that the foobar 2000 works just fine under linux :THMUBSUP: im really impresed :)

Let me tell You a story.

Today, i've boaded train to Miskolc from Košice and as usual, i packed my things in last car's fourth compartment. After arrival in Miskolc, when i've just seen the train leave the station... i realized my wallet is still on it... You can imagine my sadness and anger mixing an explosive in my head. While thinking "How the fuck could i leave it there??!" i went to the cash counter, from where i was sent to another 2 offices... Luckily, few minutes later, the conductor on that train found my wallet (i never knew how easily can they communicate). Good that i always use the same compartment, otherwise i'm sure i wouldn't have remembered where i was and she could have searched the train quite a while... and probably wouldn't find anything because people usually use train cars in front (and there's a LOT of stealing on the trains in Hungary, so i've heard).

I had few hours to spend while the conductor will return from Budapest with my wallet, so i've used baggage room for my things. Now when i count it, i've spent DAYS on that train station waiting, but i've never noticed how nice their baggage service is. Transparent lockable boxes, which need 100 Ft / € 1 for lock to close. You don't have a coin? They'll lend you one. Heh. There's a security guard in the room, information center. I have to say, i was surprised.

When i've got my wallet back, man was i surprised then. Everything was there... ID's, money, etc... Lucky day.

I realise that probably no one from Tiszai train station at Miskolc will ever see this message but: THANK YOU.

I love life. It handles my stupidity better than myself.

im still (unfortunately) in the process of writing my paper which means that i also have to deal with the new/old articles I have cited, or I want to read. and this is where the problem starts.

well my folder called buffer_reading is growing faster and once i have the time and the mood for studying something new i want to find the paper on the given topic ASAP.

there are now several ways how to do it. some are web-based some offline based. right now i very very much prefer using referencer.

it's very neat compared to the usual jabref monster, mainly because it allows you to import already downloaded articles, then it imports their bibtex info and afterwards you can tag them.

after spending few weeks (2) on making one initial conditions generator working, i was playing around with it, being happy that it gives me data in a way i needed them (this is not as trivial as it might sound). so i tried to go for some more resolution (128^3) in 50 Mpc box and this is what came back up.

I know that it is on the borders, but im sure that im not happy with what i see, any ideas, what it can be?

I bought a new desktop item today, Logitech S220 Speakers. Simple description would be: fun. To save some space on desk, for mouse cord, i hanged 2 small black satellites onto my shelf on each side of LCD, as i say, fun ;] 9W subwoofer is just enough for my small room. I couldn't have used €23 better. Now i need to remove all other junk from the table...

If You look closer, You may notice an invitation to a computer graphic art exhibition held at Amana teahouse in Košice... If You can, be there at 28th of May, i'm sure it will be nice.

im getting closer and closer to running 10 km in hour, which is putting me closer to my goal of running marathon in 4 hours. mind u the WR is around 2 hours - not normal av. speed 20 km/h, i can barely run 15 km/h for 5 mins.

just a small advice: never never eat something slightly heavier than dexatrose before running, makes u sick, really not nice.

problem was resolved, i put in the only ram module and one of the new ones and it worked like magic, no problem everything was ok :) how nice.

anyway, we got new sysadmin, who is supossed to take care of such things, but apparently hes ....
let me illustrate by a true story:

the other day, this guy comes to our office, with a question, if he can have a look at my keyboard, so i thought ok, sure why not. of course my keyboard is german as i could not have different option for a keyboard, but im using US layout, which i have memorized by now. so i asked him, whats the problem and he said that he looking for minus sign on a US layout.

this makes me wonder. i was close to suggesting: "use magic weapon +1 - "brain" and cast spell "google"".
well, it will be interesting how he will continue to act ;)

a old truth, sure. so the thing is i wish for more RAM memmory for my working computer, since i actually do need it. i ve got from our new sysadmin a 4 GB module and he asked me to give him the ram i had installed in my computer, so i switched the ram modules and then the problems started. sudenly my MAC adrress have been changing during the scp or rsync transfers :( so i thought i reinstall ubuntu, i admit i was not very nice to it, too much experimenting with useless stuff.

so i backuped my data, which was painfull as i had to wait one day to get my portable HDD as scp rsync ftp were not working. today i downloaded burned iso image for new ubuntu 64 bit. put it in, everything seemed to be working relatively well, untill it started to copy the file on to the HDD and started to complain that the *.deb packages are corrucpted, so i thought ok, i redownoald image from other mirror burn it and it will work. not really...

then i tryed to check the cd with selftest wich u can find on the installation media, it said the disc is OK. ok so i thought the HDD may be damaged - ran DPS self test thru BIOS everything fine.

tried 32 bit version. everything went smooothly, till i rebooted for the first time into the freshly installed OS. the ubuntu sounds greeted me, and right afterwards it started to complain that there is no soundcard, ... funny. at this time i was getting slightly annoying as this has never happened to me with ubuntu and also all off the previous installations were magically smooth. so i thought ok, still i dont need sound that much, but i need my nvidia to work properly. i tried to install the restricted drivers... nothing, no respense from the system whatsoever.

so i downloaded another image and burned it with alternative vesrion of ubuntu 64bit install - no success. i honestly tried every possible way how to install the damm thing nothing worked.

tomorrow im asking for my old ram and screw sysadmin i have been in the work trying to get that working+ work im actually being payed for, for 13 hours. i need a running system with lots of ram lets make him handle stuff.

those of u who do know me, also do know that this is not a rant about the linux, its just life experience i wanted to share :)

i am known to be a car fan(atic). and i think there is more truth in that statement ;) i like nice cars and fast cars. I play some sim games like LFS (-its the best), GTR Evo or GTL and i was very happy to find old '86 BMW touring car in the GTR Evo, and today i have seen something that blew my mind. i love touring cars races, and after my visit to BMW museum in Munich last year, i have fallen in love with the older models of BMW. The new ones are ok, but for some reason i like the old ones more, and today i have seen this concept design and i loved it, this is how BMW racing car should look like ;)

hi,
well, i am home, finally. after 6 months and 13 hours on trains i am finally home and i cannot be pleased more. thought travelling was not so nice. I spent one night in vienna, between changing countries and it was needed in the end. i like austrian trains and nothing would have prepare me for the slovak train. i do have some experiences with slovak train, but this was bad. 8 hours on a train with chairs without any cusioning is just plainly horrible. somehow the carriages in slovak trains are smaller and way more uncomfortable than in austrian trains. i dont know how it is possible, but it is true. and then its the nice passengers, i mean i will not try to bitch about hard working ppl going home for xmass, but beware of ppl travelling with everything packed in TESCO bags or something similar. ;)

well its something past midnight and i can finally call it a day...or i should say a week....

today started pretty nice and i will skip all of the unimportant crap and ass the time went by my supervisor stopped @ the office to announce that group meeting will be tomorrow/today instead of a Thursday. this is on one hand very nice, but on the other hand it also meant that i have to get my data reduced/analyzed one day earlier. this alone should not be a big problem if one assumes that the person in question knows how to do it, which was not my case.

so the challenge:

data from one sim run cca. 11 GB of ascii data in a lets say inconsistent format. first task was to get the data i wanted in some nice way = chronological without loosing information. ok, relatively easy. but time counted in redshift is in log scale - therefore increase of the amount of output files. more or less it took me 3 hours of search copy open new paste close procedure till i got my files in a way i wanted to have them. amounting of 363 files i wanted to show of and to create some nice movie out of this data. and this turned out to be a relatively nasty problem. not because of the data, or a method, but rather problem of using wrong tool...

the tool:

usually at out department i am a black sheep as long as i can i use gnulot, bash, sed, awk and lately octave, but all of the rest uses either matlab or IDL. well i have installation of matlab in my workstation which is ubuntu box. so i started to create by hand all of the picture files to create movie with mencoder. once i have gotten all of my files i realized that i was stupid and that the axes of the plots are not the same thus movie would look stupid. my clock was showing 1900. so i deleted all of this rubbish files with intention to start again. i checked for the values and started, but suddenly my matlab refused to save my files no matter what i did. i was trying for the whole hour why it is like that but i did not succeed. i left the office at 2000 very demotivated and frustrated, knowing that i will have to work at home to have something prepared for tomorrow. now its 0111 and i think that in the principle i have it sorted out, thanks to small bash script and octave.

conclusion:

if god exists, he created this world with awk, sed, cat, bash, grep and gnuplot.

as it says, i was always thinking about what this magnatune shop is since its set as one of the servoices in my rhythmbox player, but i have never had time enough to check until yesterday.

so i've checked their website and quite frankly i was very nicely surprised and liked the idea immediately. right now im thinking very hard about buying some music from them. and this is usually the problem with usual music buying business. u usually do not know what u r buying and thus u r taking tha risk. with magnatune, no! u can listen to music before u buy album for how long u want and then decide. u can also get a mambership and listen tu music without nice guy telling u after each song what it was, but this is a small annoyance compared to this possibility to know what u r getting which i rate very high and strongly recommend to ppl to try out ;)

ps. once i have figured out how their shop works i will let u know :D

...result? well, the video includes nude people running and swimming and beign happy in the video. but this is weird i dont know why should be possibly disturbing for minors to see some nice naked people, they did not do anything unappropriate, they were not fat, not too skinny, so where is the problem?

Ok so this is how my computer looked during Jenam and bit before and I have spent several days trying to convince nice ppl at dell that i had a hardware failure.

After some days of convincing and one technician visit, everything is back to normal.And I am happy working again, I have made my first own video of my simulations of which I am proud of, thought not that proud to post it here, it still needs some tweaking, but its on the right place.

Last few days I have spent reading about the interaction between galaxies and its effects on their histories and well, no one knows anything :)

Now I have started studying semi-analytical galaxy formation, to understand it and to gain bit more trust in simulation code I am using :)

the problems with sounds were fixed, it was just stupid switch in the mixer settings, but now the question raises in my head, can you be audiophile with ur computer as your hardware? some might argue that computer electronics are just digital and thus create lots of disturbances to the sound, but then where is the borderline? isnt audiophilia then just a quest for holy grail? too much of technological masturbation? sure it is good for technology and it might be usefull, but do u really want to spent horrible amount of money of some system which would be great but u would not be able to hear the difference?

after the new mobo (2nd change already), i was playing around with my laptop and the fresh installation of ubuntu (hardy) and was looking for some nice music player, sure i know amarok, but i wanted something else for a change.

the first option was mpd+ncmpc:
this setup looks very cool, works quite nice unless ur mpd/pulseaudio server is not crashing. its CLI and thus by definition very cool :), though i still havent managed to get scrobbling to last.fm

the second option was exaile which is pretty much amarok written in gtk, but with some crappy audio engine as i have found out today. i was listening to some flac music, and one can hear artificial distortions in output at the small levels of output... i should look where is the problem and then i will let u know, if u have more info pls let me know

today i woke up very very early and ended up in work way too soon and very tired. not even three coffees and two cups of my fav green tea did not help me to work as desired.

thus i started to do something "useful", i manged to write one shitty small matlab script (honestly ive never used more stupid language with even more stupid syntax). anyway i was fiddling around with it and in the end managed to do stuff which would take me in idl/gdl few moments. so from now on no more matlab its just counter productive+ help files and everything just not helpful, unlike for idl/gdl which is the most wonderfully documented language ive ever came across.

but in the end i ended up looking for everything else just not the proper things. so i managed to log back in into the DGS and get myself into another game i will loose badly, but im feeling good about it, the long winter is coming so i need something to occupy myself. :) yeah btw feel free to play with me and beat shit out of me :)

i bought some new toys for me as a reward and also as a motivational presents.

I need to finish my first paper and it already taking longer than i would like to. after 4 weeks away from work everything needs to get back to normal including me and my day routine and "work" routine. anyway as a part of present i got myself an external 1 tb hdd and a nice headphones specifically AKG K272 HD as u can see on a pic :) im terribly happy with them.

most of the last week i've spent with trying to find and aviable node on our cluster to run my programs and while doing that i started to play around with my dummy_vis program. well to call it a program is actually a lie. its one small program to read in the data and some bash scripts for managing creating and converting output from gnuplot to something normal. anyway it is too slow and i do not see what i want to so i asked steffen and he recommended VisIt. i will haeve a proper look on it back on monday :) if everything goes well u can be looking forward to some cool videos... hopefully.

anyway tomorrow is a F1 GP so im really looking forward to it :)

Well today i was at the 3rd Platform Workshop of the IAC @ our uni, i was asked to give a talk about my current research, since i am using our cluster which is part of this HPC consortium. The talk itself is not really worth mentioning for several reasons, ad1, it was 10+5 mins, which is very diplomaticly said little, if you are asked to give an introduction to the physics of clusters of galaxies and AGNs for audience in which are biologist and chemist and not to look like arrogant bastard, ad2, because my performance was just bad.

What is worth mentioning was the discussion over the new cluster. It seems that the Platform got money for the new cluster, but as people have find out after designing the new cluster, there is no place at our ZID to provide sufficient energy.

This is of course a rather big problem, so the discussion started. As far as, i am concerned (which i am not much yet ;)), i can say that the discussion developed between the worst possibble people of the crowd, not because of their inabilities in communication or lack of knowledge or willigness to solve problem. The problem was, as i have seen it, that people discussing this topic were of course involved with HPC, which is in a sense a type of personality flaw (in a non pejorative way). Why?


From my experience people involved HPC have two basic characteristic features:
1. they are geeks, resp. hackers (def.), or gurus
2. they are megalomaniacs undercover (also meant in good way)

I believe that these two characteristic make them the worst possible candidates to solve this problem, and thus we were listening to their rather grand solutions which lacked almost any sense from economical or practical point. :)

i am looking forward to see how will it end up ;)

I always thought and now I am completely sure that all of the people who works in astrophysical simulations are megalomaniacs (in a way).

We love computers and there is nothing better for us than to run our code on new machine with more power. This is also party the reason why are there each year new simulations codes. It is as my supervisor says inventing the wheel with almost every new PhD student. Everyone wants to have his own simulation code, and when I thought about it it makes sense. Everyone want to be satisfied and brag about how his code is fast and brilliant.

Anyway, it just ego tickling, useless and pointless ego tickling, though deeply psychologically encoded in this very special society (normal people do not care about our work).

I am not writing my own simulation code, yet ...
but I love to observer my smaller programs running on bigger and more powerful machines as is our new institutes addition - 2x SUN X4600 - a 16 cores shared memory beast :) so meet our cluster:

Ok my dear readers, whoever you are :)

Since January I have a new laptop - Dell Latitude D630 with nvidia GPU and extended battery. I have to say that this is so far my best laptop and computer ever. It is even faster than my stationary computer back home in Slovakia, but this is nothing unexpected cause of the enormous speed of the development in the computer industry.

Anyway, i wanted to show off, i put on it dualboot ubuntu and wXp and compiz fusion work out of the boxm which is very nice. And i have to say that so far I have only one small problem, and that was with my soundcard. It works, but the output signal is lower than in wXp. :(

Thought it is still ok for me :) and most importatnly for my neighbours. :D

so as I found out today morning, my script for counting uplifted mass of galaxy which im making for some top secret research didn't work properly. So I wondered wot might be wrong I look in the ouptut from the program (lots of numbers), and then I saw a very interesting number, no its not the number from the Pi movie, but still it was quite intriguing and most of the women would loved it, why ? because according to my program some of the masses of nonzero galaxies were negative, which is quite funny right? so I wondered, where is the problem and I looked carefully on the process of getting data from the datafiles.

Another surprised was awaiting for me. My datafiles are 36226 x 45 numbers that means 36226 rows and 45 collumns. In order to optimize my code to be faster I need in the first step just data from the 8 column for every row, so I coded quite simple for loop that was supossed to read just first 9 data in each row, everything seemed nice and well going and working.

But then I looked to that process in detail and find out that it has some realy strange behaviour like for example it copied some data more than once and also the wrong data. So i tried to tweak a bit but it didnt work. In the end I just read in all of the data and then assigned the right value to right variable and it worked.

Any other experiences like that ?

So, I finished the other script for my research and i started to crunch data few seconds ago, after checking if the test run went well. So its as usual N*N problem and right now the load of my desktop is 92.04 , nice right? I just hope that i wont burn processors =) @least we will see, how good are HP computers assembled :)

So yesterday evening I finished my program to get statistics for galaxy files I obtained. Right now the program is crunching data, and since it was small and nice I decided to run it for more parameters on my desktop PC which is HP Compaq dc5750 Microtower with AMD X2 64 CPU. so far I'm runnign more instances of that program and the load is 32.00 =) let him sweat a bit.

I just hope i will not kill it. think of Pi the movie

Deciding which notebook buy?

Well, I will present you my point of view on this topic. Since I'm doing my PhD in Innsbruck I'm really in a need of a good notebook, so I can work at home and also at work, when my desktop PC is used to it's limits by my inefficient codes for crunching numbers. Since I was aware of this fact I wanted to buy a notebok, unfortunately I don't have enough money, but that didn't stop me from doing some research in tis field.

I spoke with all of my firends who have their notebooks and what they told me can comprimed into these basic rules (some of the are subjective, in that way that they are different for different person):

1. Choose notebook according to your needs. (Not every user needs maximum portability and great battery stamina.)
2. Choose notebook so that it's keyboard and track/touchpad device will suits you the best.
3. Think of it's weight and sizes.
4. Think of the service and reputation of the brand you choose.
5. Design.
6. Think again.

As I mentioned I was doing research about notebooks to find one which would suit me the most and the notebook of my dreams was/is and unfortunately will be Lenovo N200. Why? Well because it's parameter suits me the best and I also thought about the enviroment and according to the lastest Greenpeace report Lenovo is the most enviroment friendly notebook producer (Apple was last, design is not everything). When I realized that I don't have enough money to buy a new laptop, I started to look for an used one (yes, I know used laptops are baaaad decision - Hi Miklos). As I was looking for a used laptops here I asked Wolfgang if there is a shop with used laptops. His reply was: "Used laptops are bad!". Yes, I know that, but I have no other choice I also want o work at home, and I don't want to be at the institute till 2100 every day.

After I explained my situation to Wolfgang what didn't took long, he said that there should be some old notebook at the institute which can be lend to me. He also said that he will ask people if its possibl to have it and he promised to arrange everything. What a surprised waited for me the next day, when I've got to institute Julia told me that Wolfgang has a notebook for me. Yeah, I've got IBM Thinkpad A30. An old laptop manufactored in 2002, but nevertheless I was able to install Fedora core 7 on it, after 4 hours of trying to get the graphic cards to work I succeded and I had laptop for my needs, borrowed but still enough for my simple codes. I can tell you that I very satisfied and surprised with the quality of this notebook. It was used by many people before me and its in a perfect shape. No weird sounds, no dead keys on the keyboard.
Since Lenovo and IBM have the same laptops by construction, after this experience I'm sure that I will buy Lenovo laptop once I have enough money.

So, I've got PhD position in Innsbruck at University of Innsbruck, yup I will do simulation of enrichment of clusters of galaxies probably.

As Tina told me during the camp, Adams Douglas got drunk in Innsbruck and he spend one night in park and that was the time we got inspirated for writing The Hitchhiker's guide to the Galaxy. After spending some time here I'm getting pretty sure that we got inspiration for Vogons after meeting some Austrians, I like some Austrians though, but the burocracy stuff is the same as with Vogons.

so I'm back home from something what I can call the biggest adventure of my life so far. I was in Munich doing research and then went to IAYC and as the last year it totally paid of :) I've got constelated, did practical project, got some very nice pictures, gr8 memories and future.

From 1st of September I'm an official PhD Student @ Leopold-Franzens-Universität Innsbruck.

So, since i passed my last exam , I'm now officially not a student anymore, although i feel like a student.
i'm officially unemployed and constantly from monday fighting with depression, paranoia and fully appreciating nihilism and existencialism. and still trying to keep some bit of hope motivation and inner flame in my heart.

So on monday I have the last state exams, from that time on, If I succesfully pass, I will be oficially unemployed :( I have to go to some office after that in 7 days deadline, so I won't be having much fun I guess.

I don't have a job, so it doesn't look very optimistic, though I'm still keeping on that last bit of hope for me to get to some PhD studies.

I will spend almost all of my lifetime savings this year. I'm going to Germany to do summer research project, and i'm really looking forward to it :) and the to the unforgettable and unique IAYC.

Right now, I'm checking out my last high class tea. :)

And dracica was able to persuade one guy to build agoban for us, and so I'm proud to present u our goban, here r some pics, which were made by ezimir :) if u want u can use it , its freely aviable in Amana the tea house. The web site is pretty shitty right now, but ezimir promised to do something much more better and as he yesterday found out, he will have a very good team to work with.

So this is how I feel wight now. I'm waiting for my diploma thesis last aproval, from tutor, but so far none new emails came :(
the deadline is tommorow and i wont be able to make it, since, there are noone in this city, who could publish it in such short time, because they are overloaded with this shit, from other students. the thing is that i've sent this version two weeks ago. some people have they diploma thesis printed and the're done.
arrgh, i'm really angry, i can't do anything, i'm just chceking my inbox every 2 seconds.

wow, it has been almost a month without any new post. those few of you who r actually reading this blog might wonder if I am alive. since u r reading this u should be able to find answer.

So today I drunk the last portion of Ye Cai tea, which was one of the best and the most expensive teas I've ever had. I just feel sorry that ezimir haven't been able to enjoy it, because of the load of my work and his journeys :).

I would like to say that my Go is getting better, but I don't have that feeling. I wasn't in a club for years now, and I don't play on KGS either, but u can find me there chatting. Speaking of KGS it reminds me of the chid0ri's comic strip, which I really like, as I 've seen today sutex told that the new sections r made, he is just w8ing for chidori's opinion and supervision >). Ahh yes, this is my new evil smile I guess.

Kesa got internet at home, so I hope for the new post on his webpage. I was just checking it out, and I must say thatI'm kinda surprised, but in a bad way. I like his graphical works much, but his poems at least those two I saw were religious, which is the concept I do not liek, in fact I hate such writings.

I'm w8ting for the last correction of my Diploma thesis from my tutor. The I'll print it out. and all of the diploma thesisi madness will end. I really want to thank some important people, whom I wont be able to thank in diploma thesis, because of this circumstances.

So the first and the biggest THANK YOU goes to riot, who have helped me really much, and saved many hours of my meaningless life with providing me LaTeX files I needed. And to mention the others who have helped me, ka-tica (A.k.A. katka), katka M and that's all.

Thanks go also to everyone, who made me feel miserable for the last few months. They wont be named, since there is no sense in doing so.

I§m trying to focus on studying at least Go since it makes my brain work so since I love installing new software I've installed CyberOro under windoze and got it working thru wine, here are some screenshots.

Opera, Widgets

Yesterday I've installed opera on my linux box. I knew some good widgets, which r time savers for me and I also run into a one widget i didn§t know about. It's actually a comic widget - it shows a comic, which I was reading since then u can also find it on this page. I like the art work, and also the soryline, it's nothing big, serious, but for a person like me it's good runaway to the fantasy world and that's what I sometimes need. Please enjoy :)

Beryl

So eyesterday after terrible eyeache I installed beryl on my linux and I must say that it exceed my expectations, the installation was really ok, and so I managed to get new drivers installed with envy and after sudo apt-get beryl emerald-themes everything was ok to install.

The installation of beryl was also problem free, everything worked, or almost everything, I wasn't able to get window decorations to work. I tried all howtos I could find, but with no succes so, after innitial load of 3-4 I decided, that it was a quite seccuesfull experiment, but not for my computer and I sudo apt-get remove beryl.

Please let me know I you manage to get everything work, and write ur opinions on beryl.

Dance house it's a event which is organised by KMAF (Club of Athentic Folk Lovers (yup, it's a strange name)), and it's held once in month. I'm a regular participient of this event, and I like it. They teach you there new folk dances, usually, not from that region, so u'll something new a meet nice people u already know :). But at least there's a reason for a one or two or n beers (where n is any from N (N stands for set of all natural numbers)).

And it was like this also yesterday, that's why is my status on facebook dizzy. I'm not having hangover because n wasnt too big, but still no 100 % sober.

Yesterday there were some new people like ezy and ka-tice, who attended this kind of action for fisrt time, and I must say, that it was succesfull event. We also said goodbey to my trainer, who is leaving for Japan for two weeks. You wouldn't expect that japanese people are really into slovak foklore, but they are :) Which for me means two weeks of total terror, because the other trainer, like to see blood on the our feet :)

Go tournament

So on saturday and sunday will be a Go tournament in Kočice which I'm planning to attned as the observer and learner, beside that I want to buy Go stones so I can make myself a goban. I should manifest a support for one player form one person from Slovak Corner from KGS.

Today i tested the Gunpowder and the first taste wasn't very satisfying :(, but I hope that I'll be able to find the breweing method, which will yield the good taste for my tongue.

I'm in TOP 35 in BOINC.SK team in project Einstein@home.

The case of schizophrenic amarok, wonderfull tea and badly mashup in Go

So yesterday ezy came by, and we tasted the beautyful tea with name Hai Bei Tu Chu. It'

s a green tea which is in the shape of flower and in fact there is a flower pacled in the leaves of green tea. So after we pour water we experienced the most incredible thing connected to drinking tea. The process of opening of this pack and revealing it's true nature was wonderfull.

I must say that the tea itself was genious I would describe it as green tea with flower - fruit component.

Atfer enjoying tea and new part of top gear, ezy ot home and I started working. I'm still fighting with Olber's paradox and it's math solution to satisfy the expectations from my tutor :), then I realised that my Amarok is showing some wierd behaviour. It just wouldn'r recongise files that were in collection. it was like schizophrenic amarok. I tried to fix it but with no succes, so I've installed mpd with ncmpc which is great, but I wanted to scrobbling my music to last.fm so I found the plugin, but I wasn't able to compile it :(

Then exactly at 2340 I started my match in Go with ezy, but I was so bad, that I was totally defeated. But i learned big things with that match, so I can improve. have you noticed the most used word in Go society is improve or isn't ?

so far i have just tasted Budha's eyes. I'm no big fan of black teas, but I like this one. I've also got I nice bag with it, with Budha's eyes :). I'm really looking forward to tasting the others teas.

Propably I will make this testing with ezimir sometime this week, although I cannost say when, because ezimir is working man now, you know job, corporation, suit and tie :)) no I'm joking.

But what I'm sure about is that you can look forward to news about the new teas :)

I'm studying for my state exam, and right now i'm reading books about educational science. As a teacher i should educeta children and teenagers to think in global, i should teach them that the consume life style is the worst road to take. I agree with all this, i'm deeply concerned about problems of war, hunger in the world and also the big differencs between countries and their economic situations. I'm willing to do something abou it, but what about the others ?

I know just one another person who is aware of these problems, and actually do what he can to make a difference (just visit hungersite and click the mouse, is it that hard ?!!!), but the others ? They just don't care ? or is it just that they dont know about this problem ?...maybe, or I should say I hope so, otherwise I would be very sad. when i'm bad or i want to point out that there are people with bigger problems than ours, i use to look at my watch and every 3 seconds tell : "now". They don't know what i'm doing so they ask me? my answer is that during that time died x people, they are scared and ashamed. one girl start to cry, but are regrets ebough ? how can their regrets or tears help children in africa ?

My question is what would u do to motivate young people to do something about it (i think that one click is not that much). i'm going back to studying with a hope of one reply to this question. peace with you.

Today morning I woke up and realised that I haven't seen a Go game in a very long time. So i tried to install some Go client to my linux box, but I wasn't to do it, because in repositories there was only gnuGO and cGoban, which aren't my favourities.

I tried to install glGo i tried and failed all the time, the problem ? There is no 64bit client for Go, so I used a little trick I just swtiched to windows where I've installed glGo and then I switched back to linux, where i run wine glgo.exe and everything is working well.

Also I found a good source for Go learning here. My last game really sucked, the other player just run away when he realise that I'm inevitably going to win. I hope for better players and more free time so I can play more.

Its said that educational science should focus on effective communication, so my little question is, what is your tool/way of choice of effective communication over the net ? Is is email, IM, VoIP, or something else ? I will appreciate every opinion and please write your reasons.
